How COVID-19 is Changing Our Homes
For over 6 months now, most of us have been confined to our homes and can now see how house arrest is, in fact, a punishment. Now that travel is restricted, social gatherings are limited and our busy lives are slowing down only to be surrounded by the four walls of our homes, it's no surprise that people have more time to evaluate their living situation. How functional is it, really? Does it feel too small? Do I even like the way it is decorated?
The way a home looked wasn't always a priority for Americans. It wasn't until post-war, mid-century America that people, with new disposable income and spending increased time at home, began caring about home furnishings and decor.
This new era of COVID-19, like many things, is going change the way we think about our homes yet again. This time, when people are deciding to buy a home, they'll likely think, "Could I spend months upon months in here without losing my mind?" People are looking at homes with a whole new checklist in mind including but not limited to:
A home office (or two)
Space for at home learning for the kids
A space to work out at home
A functional and entertaining outdoor space
Guest bedrooms with private access and/or amenities in case of isolation
More defined spaces

Like everything in life, this too shall will pass. However, some of these life-changes will last far beyond the pandemic including increased time working from home and doing more at-home work outs. People are taking new considerations when looking for a new home, and if you are selling yours, make sure you have what other people want.
