Spring into Home Selling
Winter is slowly ending, which means the season of re-birth, blooming, and better weather is approaching! The coldest season of the year is the most unpopular time of year to sell your home, so if you're planning to list this spring, it's time to prepare now because you aren't alone. According to keepingcurrentmatters.com, "The number of homes for sale is up from last year but below pre-pandemic numbers," which means that you may be competing against many other homes for sale in your market alone.
Don't let the competition scare you off, though. Punxsatwaney Phil predicted 6 more weeks of winter earlier this month, so you have time to make some easy adjustments before listing your home! Let's go through some of our professional recommendations for the Dallas area.

Take care of simple home maintenance to-dos. Save time and money by taking care of maintenance items that potential buyers may bring up. Not only will you have more control, say, if you want to DIY it, but you'll save time in the long run by not having these things hold up the negotiation process. Here a few suggested tasks:
Fix any broken shelving, hinges, doors
Check flooring for loose boards, creaks
Ensure alarm system is working OK
Check all windows are secure and leak free
Freshen up with a fresh coat of paint. A little paint can go a long way in transforming your home. We have a list of neutral colors that we recommend here.
Put un-needed items in storage or donate. Packing can be a daunting task, but if your know you're going to move, start before you list your home! By packing stuff you don't need in the near future, you're making your home more appealing to a potential buyer!
