Don't Put Your House on the Market
“Home is not a place, it’s a feeling.”
- Cecelia Ahern
“A house is not a home.”
– Polly Adler
We love these two quotes for a few reasons, with the main reason being the underlying meaning that any house can be a house. A “home” takes people living inside of the house, making memories to last a lifetime and overall transforming it to be their very own. You may be putting your home on the market, or it may already for sale. The fact of the matter is, you’re just putting a house on the market – not someone else’s “home,” although it may not feel that way to you right now.
Now, don’t let the title of this blog post confuse you. Staging Dallas isn’t telling you to take your house off of the market! We just simply don’t think you should put a “house” on the market, but rather, a home.
How do you show someone that your home could be their home? Two words: Home staging.
They need to envision themselves living there
Staging your home is important for many, many reasons, but this may be the most important of them all. Staging the spaces that they could potentially be living in is an easy visual into their future. They can see the family huddled up around the living room fireplace on the couches in the fall, they can see themselves eating breakfast together on the kitchen table on a Tuesday morning - they can see themselves there.

They need some inspiration
It’s not very difficult to walk through an empty or vacant home. Viewing homes this way is very technical and thus, not very emotional. The realtor might point out the size of the rooms, the number of windows or the layout and architecture of the house. Numbers and facts don’t make anyone feel anything, necessarily. When there is furniture set-up and well-thought out decor, this evokes several types of emotion that you wouldn’t have in a vacant, empty house. Furniture makes it a home.
