Pantone Colors of the Year: Ultimate Gray and Illuminating

It's that time of year! Pantone has chosen its official colors (yes, not just one but TWO) for 2021: "Ultimate Gray" and "Illuminating". From the Pantone website: "Practical and rock solid but at the same time warming and optimistic, the union of PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray + PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating is one of strength and positivity. It is a story of color that encapsulates deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the promise of something sunny and friendly."

While the two are complete contrasts, together, the pair of colors can somewhat sum up the dreary year lined with a bit of hopeful cheer of 2020.

“Ultimate Gray and Illuminating, a cheery butter yellow, were selected as "two independent colors that come together to create an aspirational color pairing, conjoining deeper feelings of thoughtfulness with the optimistic promise of a sunshine filled day," Pantone announced in an article by USA Today.
