Home Staging Statistics - Around the World
Did you know that home staging is not unique to the good old U. S. of A. - it's a practice used in a lot of other countries around the world! And while it's not a unique way to assist in selling a home, we wanted to find out if there is something unique about the American real estate market and how it relates to home staging. Is it as effective in other countries? So, here at Staging Dallas, we did some international research to find out how common it is to hire home staging professionals and how effective it is for other markets around the globe.
Below are some takeaways from the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) survey: "Stagers are located all over the world, with the majority concentration in North America. IAHSP has members in 20 countries and growing. The respondents from this survey were mostly from North America and Australia. The IAHSP Europe Association and the HSA UK Association provide statistics for their particular regions."
Where Home Stagers Are Located
To give you an idea of how the U.S. compares to other contries in terms of home ownership, here are the top 5 countries with the highest rate of property ownership:
Romania - 96.4%
Singapore - 90.8%
Slovakia - 90.3%
Cuba - 90%
Croatia - 89.7%
Comparatively, in the US, only 65% of people own homes.
There are an estimated fewer than 10,000 professional Home Stagers in the industry worldwide. That equates to approximately 1% of REALTORS® and 0.5% of licensed real estate agents in the US alone.
50% of the Staged properties in the survey sold for 6% or MORE over the listing price with nearly 9% selling for 15-20% over list.
From $5,000 more to over $150,000 with stagers reporting increases of $300K-$500K after Staging. Nearly 30% of respondents shared that their Staged properties sold for $100K or more.
In 2021, an estimated 6.12 million properties were bought and sold in the US, 668,000 in Canada, and based on the data compiled from their industry members, approximately 1.3 million of those properties involved using a Stager.
