Throw Pillow Throw Down
We love them, we hate them, we have to have them: Throw Pillows. At the end of the day, they end up on the corner of the room on the floor, but during the day, they can make a bedroom from blah to bam!
How many do you need? Can you have too many? What accent colors do you go with? What sizes? Have no fear, Staging Dallas is here to answer all of your burning questions regarding throw pillows.
Number of Throw Pillows

Firstly, it's a general rule of thumb to have an odd number of pillows. In most cases in our home staging projects, we go with 3-7. You can see the photo above uses five throw pillows. For more minimalist or contemporary rooms, we sometimes go with just 1, which you can see below. With a geometric comforter and line art above the bed, less was more!

On the flip side, you can have too many throw pillows. See below (not Staging Dallas).
Now that is just uncomfortable.
Colors and Accent Colors

It's imperative when choosing the perfect throw pillows to add some color! Throw pillows give you the freedom to tie in any color of your choice. In the photo above, the comforter is white, so we were able to go with two patterned pillows and finishing it off with a teal pillow to tie it all in. Although blue was not in the original color scheme of the room, this really adds depth and appeal to the room.
Throw Pillow Sizes and Placement

You probably know that you must go with different sizes of throw pillows to achieve that "comfy and cozy" look for a bed. In most of our stagings, we use two large square pillows to cover the pillows for actual use, then the pillow shams, and then a couple of square pillows, and then finishing it off with a smaller, rectangular pillow.
So in short, alternating shapes is a basic principal for positioning.
Overall, even though they're called, "throw" pillows - more thought goes into them than simply tossing them on the bed! But, let us do the thinking. Contact Staging Dallas today to stage your bedrooms and more.
